A Walking Full-Moon

Things have been kinda hectic at work lately. For several days in a row, my patients who were otherwise doing well, suddenly started "crashing." That's nursing lingo for "they could die if we don't do something." And these were patients who were not suppose to die. There were two days in a row like this. On the third day, as I was coming into work, one of my coworkers said, "You're working again? I'm scared. You're like a walking full-moon." Of course, the metaphor being that things get kinda wacked when there is a full-moon.

Fortunately, today was not one of those days. It was busier than usual, but not due to any life-threatening circumstances.

I started the day off-kilter today because I was running late. I grabbed my skateboard, thinking it would save me about half the time on my way to work. This was my first time commuting to my job via skateboard from my new apartment. What a learning lesson! I saved a little time on my way into work, but it was uphill the entire way. So I arrived all sweaty and with a lovely glow to my cheeks (no, not the glow from sidewalk-skateboard skrub).

It's odd. I walk to work everyday and had never realized consciously that there was a clear incline nearly the entire way there. Of course, on the way home, this was much to my advantage.

The route is pretty damn sweet, though. Part of the way, I ride through the edge of Golden Gate Park, where the path is smooth as silk. Makes the ride almost as delicious as surfing (but not quite - I *do* love surfing). And the rest of the route isn't too bad either. There isn't a lot of foot traffic, so I was able to stick to the sidewalk for most of the ride.

Honestly, I hadn't been on my skateboard in quite awhile. I was a little self-conscious, worried I might fall and humiliate myself in front of the large crowd of pubescent homeless congregating at the edge of the park.

Falling wouldn't be bad if I was good at falling. But for better and for worse, I haven't had that much practice at it.

Comments:
it's probably like riding a bike....you never forget...once you get going you'll be a female Tony Hawk in no time! :)

Indigo - Yeah, I tried roller blades. They never gave me quite the same thrill, though. Now, good ol' fashioned rollerskates in a roller rink... ;-)

Mitzzee - Well, I don't know about that, but.... I do it for the fun of it and that's good enough for me.

I think it's cool to go to work so naturally. Break a leg! No, on second though, don't do that!
