Movie Review: The Fabulous Stains
Last night, my pal Bettie Black and I went to see the midnight showing of the 1981 classic Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains at the Castro Theater. I had no idea what to expect really. I was mostly going because Bettie wanted to and because I needed to stay up until 3am anyway so I could work a night shift tomorrow. Well, what an awesome film!
This movie is about a punk rock girl band trying to make a name for themselves. Part of their appeal to their young girl fans is their careless attitude combined with their "We don't put out!" motto.
Apparently, there is only one celluloid copy of this film that exists in the world, despite its Paramount origins (Paramount was too scandalized by this film to ever release it). This means, NO DVD, NO VHS, NO nada. Just this one single celluloid copy. I feel so special to have had the opportunity to see it!
