Men-Friends

So I'm deciding that I'm really bad at having men-friends. I say "men-friends" as opposed to "boyfriends" as I'm not referring to romantic relationships, but friendships with men.

C has been distressed with some of my relationships with male friends due to the fact that some of them flirt persistently and in her mind inappropriately. (Though I could argue that certain mutual men-friends flirt with both of us in the same manner). In other friendships, I keep almost a clinical distance emotionally, carefully safeguarding all of my tender spots.

Lately I've tried to befriend men without the crutch of sexual tension or continental divides intimacy-wise. But I'm realizing this issue is perhaps much larger than I'd realized.

I find ways to sabotage the friendships. I either revert to the comforts of innuendo or scare them away.

I really want to get over my issues, which primarily come down to trust. I just don't know how. But if there is a will, there is a way - or so the saying goes, right? Maybe.

Well, speaking of collaborative efforts among men and women... don't forget Mari's Pet Noir art show and opening party is this coming Saturday in San Francisco! There is some incredible art being exhibited - by MEN and WOMEN. :-)

Comments:
ANY friends (male or female)in which there is sexual tension is tricky! I like the term "men- friends"--very cute:)
