How to NOT Clean Your Oil Paintings?
Somehow I keep getting asked by family members how to clean oil paintings. First of all, I generally am too lazy to paint with oils. I enjoy painting in oil, but the mess afterwards is daunting. So I usually paint in acrylics. And secondly, just because I like to paint, doesn't mean I'm an expert in art restoration. So, of course, I googled the question and got all kinds of advice:
-paint in acrylic instead and minimize the need for cleaning
-buy doughy bread and roll it all over the painting
-use a damp rag with a little dish detergent on it
-don't ever clean oil paintings
And I think one of these sites also suggested vaccuuming the painting instead of washing it. Anyone got any advice?

Alexa - Excellent advice. Why didn't I think of that? And what a treat to get a comment from you on my blog!
