Giants

MC: From up in these seats, they look less like Giants and more like ants!

C: But look at the seagulls flying down below.

ME: Who are we playing anyway?

A: You don't know who's playing?

ME: Well, obviously the Giants.

A: It's the Milwaukee Brewers.

MC: Brewers as in brewery? What kind of a name is that?

C: I thought you said it was the Arizona Diamondbacks playing?

A: That's what the email said, but if you read your tickets...

Can you tell we're avid baseball fans? Regardless, the game was fun. I picked up some Buena Vista wine from one of the food stands. I was very pleased, as they are one of my favorite wineries out here. Though the wine didn't go so well with my veggie dog, garlic fries and fried dough.

ME: Eat, eat, eat. I seem to do a lot of that at baseball games.

C: Well, what else is there to do?

ME: I have to say, Orioles games will always be my favorites. Orioles fans know how to have a good time.

MC: What, like those rowdy people in the rows behind us. That's awful. I couldn't stand to be in a stadium full of people like that.

ME: Oh, it's so much fun when everyone gets excited.

C: Yeah, but do they sell sushi and wine at Orioles' games?

Only in San Francisco could you go to a baseball game and:

1) you get more distracted by the stunning view of the bay from the bleachers than by the game
2) wave? You mean those things out in the bay? Here, a wave consists solely of you and the person seated next to you whom you pull up from their chair by their jacket collar
3) you can quietly enjoy your sushi and wine as you watch the game

And yet, I adore this city.

But then again, I never was one for wearing baseball caps - team logo or not. That makes me even less of a baseball fanatic than the rest of the quiet fans in this dear town.

Comments:
The Cubs are ready to squash the Giants this year. Barry Bonds is too overweight after his steriod induced diet to even care.

That sounds like a fun time. Our hospital cafeteria has sushi available now, but only on Wednesdays. They now have veggie burgers every day!

Although the "avid baseball fan" part was sarcasm, I do know who Barry Bonds is. :-) But I know nothing about his weight nor diet. I'm not sure I care, to be honest. But going to games and drinking and singing and shouting and stomping my feet on the bleachers... Those are the parts I like.
