Breakup Blues
I met Mari at her studio this evening.

But instead of painting, we headed off to the closest bar and shared stories, bemoaning our baddest breakup blues.
She talked about trying to wean herself off the habit of jumping from relationship to relationship.
I told her about the time I tried to jump into a new affair right after a 2-year relationship ended.
The first time I had sex with the new lover, mid-way into things, when they had gotten really hot and heavy, I burst into tears. I was so devastated and disappointed that the new lover was unable to fill the hole left in my heart by my ex.
You'd think I'd have learned my lesson. I guess I did. Sort of. I held off having sex with the next woman I dated. But the following week, I met a third woman and decided to move on. And what do you know? The same thing happened... again.
Though a part of me swears it was the fact that the sex was so bad that brought me to tears that time. ;-)
It's hard to know when it's time to move on.
How long do you give yourself to recover after a break up?
BTW - No, C and I have not broken up and are not planning on it. That is not at all the point of this post.

I can relate :)
I have a card that I bought because it -the card - must have rang a bell. It has a woman jumping into a taxi and saying, "Take me to my next relationship, and step on it!"
