Erotica or Nude Art?
This is one of the drawings I'd mentioned regarding work that looks more erotic afterwards than the experience had been when I was drawing it (or posing for it for that matter - though this example is a drawing by me of a professional model).

I actually don't think of this piece as erotic. But every time I move, I want to hang it somewhere on the wall. But each time I go to put it up, someone (a roommate, friend or my partner) forbids me on the grounds that "it's too sexual."
[I apologize for the poor photo representation of the drawing. My camera and I have not been getting along well lately. I love to draw and paint, but photography is not usually my forte.]
Anyway, what do you think? Erotica or nude art? And is there a difference? I mean, obviously there is, as I have other nudes on my walls that no one argues against my hanging. But where does that line get drawn (pun intended - I never know if people pick up on my puns)? Seriously, though. Where does that distinction lie?

Comments:
That picture doesn't make me think of sex/erotica at all. it makes me think of thoughts, of thinking. Of naked thought particularly. And of solitude, the calm solitude that allows for unfettered thought rather than the solitude of loneliness. Some art that I've found highly erotic has no nudity in it whatsoever. The nude paintings I have hanging at my place represent a freedom to me rather than an erotic display. next to one of my nudes is a painting of a lady behind her feathered fans and I find her highly erotic.
Very nice. I've only done nude sketches but I know how hard it is. I think you should hang it on your wall if you want to. Who cares about being PC?
