Skateboarding Bulldog
I had a blast hanging out at Mari's studio yesterday. I finally finished my painting - the logo for this page. The paint is still drying, so it'll be a little longer before I get it up on this site.
I know I've said this at least a dozen times, but Mari is truly a brilliant artist. The first time I'd visited her at her studio, I was blown away by her piece entitled
road map to my broken heart. The on-line photo doesn't do it justice. The details that make this piece so enchanting are the ripped pages from love letters, maps marking significant locations of rendezvous, the drawing of the skeleton that represents the lover most likely to be deceased, and the broken heart path ending with the image of a vibrator. She has recently completed a companion piece to Road Map that I hope will be up on her website soon. I thought I was blown away by Road Map - well, I am amazed that it was possible, but I think this second piece is even more ingenious.
While trying my best not to destroy her studio by accidentally rubbing orange paint into her tube of white, Mari told me about a website she'd found about a skateboarding bulldog. Now, I enjoy skateboarding. Though honestly, I view it as more of a means of transportation than as a hobby. But this bulldog seems to be heading for pro skateboarding. Check out the photos (and even the movie if your computer can handle it - mine unfortunately can't) on that website. I'm fairly certain that dog can skateboard better than I can.
