Prioritization Paralysis
Classes officially start on Tuesday. I have a "To Do" list 50 items long that I would love to complete beforehand. Part of my difficulty in getting motivated to do even one of them is the fact that it is so damn cold in this apartment. After weeks of weather warm enough for shorts, I'm spoiled. My thermometer reads 68 degrees and I'm so cold that I'm attempting to type while wearing thick wooly gloves. But if I start on that to do list, what do I pick first?
-return phone calls
-pay bills
-buy groceries
-buy and send baby shower gift
-clean apartment
-get legs waxed
-meet friends for dancing and drinks
-return rental DVD's
-take the dog out for a walk
-Don't worry I won't bore you with the full list of 50. :-)
OR I could just sit around and do nothing. Playing on the computer half-the-day. Considering how busy I'm going to be starting on Tuesday, I have to say, the latter is by far the most appealing. But I get so overwhelmed just thinking of that list. I can't enjoy doing nothing when I have that list hanging over my shoulders.

Comments:
I hear you, sister! The longer the "to do" list, the harder it is to do anything! Good luck :-)
One technique I use is to plan to do the thing on the list that is the worst first (like: "I will pay the bills before the day is done"). Then it gets me to do the more pleasant tasks(e.g. leg waxing)as a way to avoid doing the thing least enjoyable for awhile. I know this sounds goofy but it works for me sometimes.
Thanks for linking to my depression and anxiety site!
