Fifty Bonfires
Fifty bonfires
across
a sea
of sand
Congas drumming
the beat
flows through
my hands
Guess I'm in the mood for childish rhymes this morning. Though seriously... there were more than fifty bonfires on Ocean Beach tonight - and those were just the fires within sight - the beach stetched out for miles beyond my line of vision. As you can probably guess, the good weather is still holding out.
Today is C's and my seventh anniversary since our Commitment Ceremony. She bought me a drum as my anniversary gift and gave it to me a little early, so I could enjoy it during tonight's bonfire. I LOVE drumming with at least one other drummer. Fortunately, sister-out-law M had brought her drum. And a friend-of-a-friend, L, took a liking to sister-out-law M's drum and our two rhythms danced particularly well together. We entertained our ourselves for what probably amounted to a couple of hours while the crowd around us drank beer and chatted about their lives.
Mari and R were amongst the crowd of a dozen or so folk around our bonfire. I'd recently bought a bunch of Mari's comics and artwork from her website - see her hip artwork and cool comics via the link in the friends section of my sidebar - so instead of mailing the pieces, she hand-delivered them to me at the beach party.
So much creative energy tonight. I just ate it up.
