Erotic Art Show Opening

So last Friday, after my burlesque dance class ended, I rushed off to go to the opening for an Erotic Art exhibit at which Mari was displaying two of her pieces.

She showed:

-Censorship and
-Cat Getting head

I love both pieces. I had seen both of them on her website, but the photos there just don't do them justice. The latter was painted onto the glass of an old "found" window frame. Some of the paints used in that piece are metallic, which the photo also doesn't do justice to. And of course, the subject matter is hysterical. Definitetly check them both out.

I had planned to only stop by the show briefly as I assumed I must be a bit stinky with sweat after dancing around for an hour and a half. But I got sucked in by all of the artwork - and the wine and hors d'oevres didn't hurt either. ;-) There were numerous artists' work on display, some more shocking in their erotic content than others. Some pieces fell only vaguely into my definition of "erotic' - and some not at all.

Just as I thought I should be getting ready to leave, the lights were dimmed and a young man pulled out a banjo and an accordian. I am a sucker for live music, and oddly enough, particularly banjos. Turns out, however, I was even more enchanted with his accordian pieces, particularly one blatantly sexual song with the refrain "I Miss Doing the Nasty with You," which he, of course, got the entire room to sing along to.

A very lovely evening. Mari seems to know all of the hip places to show her work. If any of you are local or come to town to visit, you should join me next time she tells me about an opening. They always turn out to be nights to be remembered!

hi melaina, thank you for visiting my blog today and your kind comments. i hope to see you again soon!

OMG...LMAO you are so right, it does go quite well! If I ever get a temple, I'll make sure that Cat Getting Head will be inlaid in marble on the alter!
