Call Me Reverend

Today I became a reverend. I'm not sure what inspired me to do it. My co-worker Jen said, "Hey, did you know that you can become a reverend on-line just by filling out a form?"

"No, are you serious?"

"Totally. One day, I just did it. I figured, what the heck. Now I can marry people. Seemed like a cool thing to be able to do," she laughed only half-jokingly.

"How much did it cost?"

"Nothing. It's totally free. I'm now a reverend of the Universal Life Church. They even printed up a card for me and everything."

"Have you married any couples yet?"

"No, not yet," she turned back to the computer to check her email. "But I have a couple of friends who asked if I'd do their wedding."

I have a feeling for some reason that I would be more inclined to officiate at funerals than at weddings - though marrying queer couples would be pretty awesome. According to their website, all 50 states honor marriages officiated by reverends of the Universal Life Church.

I'm kind of scared that I've signed up for something more than I bargained for. The sermons posted on the webpage are a wee bit out there from what I've read of them. But hey... I'm a reverend. Is that weird or what?

Congrats, Rev!

I'm sorry but coming upon the title of this post gives me the giggles every time I look at it :-). You are so full of interesting surprises! I admire what a go-getter you are.
