Pandora's Box

That is the question... that C and I have been asking ourselves even more frequently the past two weeks. We have fun with this exchange. Do we want a baby now? Do we want one at all? Who would make a good sperm donor father? Who wouldn't? What's important in a sperm donor - smarts, personality, financial backing, sexual orientation, history of knowing us a long time, appearance? Most of the time we are amused by the discussions, though occasionally we get a little overwhelmed in the seriousness of it all.

Today, however, was one of the more light-hearted discussions.


C: So MC and I were discussing Bob's potential as a sperm donor at length yesterday and we decided that he is probably just too conservative for you and me.

[I should explain that Bob is one of the men whom C frequently meets at the dog park and hangs out with there].

ME: Really?

C: Yeah. He is one of those traditionally liberal gay men. But then I was at the dog park alone. Jeff and his dog Judah were there. C-dog was so happy. She loves Judah. Anyway, I saw Jeff playing with a young autistic boy and was so impressed with how well Jeff interacted with him. And I started thinking...

ME (laughing): I can't believe that you and MC are trying to pick out sperm donors at the dog park.
